Chicks need different temperature environments at different stages of growth. Here are the detailed temperature requirements:
First few weeks after hatching
Week 1: 32-35 degrees Celsius (90-95 degrees Fahrenheit)
Week 2: 29-32 degrees Celsius (85-90 degrees Fahrenheit)
Week 3: 26-29 degrees Celsius (80-85 degrees Fahrenheit)
Week 4: 23-26 degrees Celsius (75-80 degrees Fahrenheit)
The next few weeks
In the following weeks, the temperature can be lowered by about 2-3 degrees Celsius per week until the temperature reaches 18-21 degrees Celsius (65-70 degrees Fahrenheit), which is usually when the chicks are 6 to 8 weeks old. At this point, the chicks should have grown enough feathers to be able to regulate their own body temperature.
Temperature management tips
Heat source: Use a gas brooder heater, heating plate or floor heating to provide heat. Make sure the heat source can be adjusted in height or temperature so that the temperature can be gradually lowered.
Ventilation: Maintain good ventilation to avoid excessive humidity and stagnant air flow, but also prevent cold winds from blowing directly on the chicks.
Proper temperature management can ensure that chicks remain healthy and grow rapidly at all stages of growth.
